I have something exciting to share.. there’s a new event & I’m taking part!

‘Find a Maker Big Weekend’!

On the 13th & 14th November Find a Maker will be taking over MAKE Southwest in Bovey Tracey, Devon.

Friday Demonstration – Flower Bricks

On the Friday I will be in the upstairs gallery at MSW, demonstrating the process behind my popular slab-built flower bricks. I’m excited to chat with all the lovely visitors whilst showing a few insights into my soft slabbing and decorating techniques.

Friday’s Find a Maker programme also includes fabulous workshops with Michaela McMillan in mixed media and Patricia Dixon in stained glass painting, alongside demonstrations from Princetown Press, willow by Making Space to Make, wood carving by William Barsley and spoon carving by Alex Finberg. There’s plenty to see and do!

Saturday Potter’s Wheel Classes at MSW

And on Saturday, I will be bringing a bit of our Eastnor Pottery sparkle to MAKE Southwest. Join me in the Education Suit for one of our legendary ‘Introduction to the Potter’s Wheel Classes’.

Spend a couple of hours with me learning how to make pots on the potter’s wheel. Your own potter’s wheel and plenty of clay to play with, I will have you throwing respectable shapes in no time!

How to throw a pot Demonstration

You’ll be treated to an informative and entertaining demo and then..

 It’s throw down time!

At Eastnor Pottery we have developed an easy to understand, five step process to making a pot on the potter’s wheel and for the first two or three attempts, we move through the stages altogether as a group. By the third go, participants have pretty much got the hang of things and are encouraged to develop at their own pace with individual tutoring as and when required.

Finishing Up

At the close of the session, choose to recycle your pots or take your favourite to airdry at home.

What do I need to bring?

An apron and old towel/tea towel for drying hands and wheel head.

How big is the class?

Maximum of x8 participants per session allowing for plenty of individual guidance and attention

This course is designed for adults and young people 14 yrs+

Price £40 per person

Plus there’s more to see & do!

Alongside my classes there will be demonstrations from other professional craft practitioners: leather work by Janine Partington, printmaking by Molly Lemon, paper artist by Kate Kato and glass art by Patricia Dixon.

Throughout the weekend, the makers will also share their stories and expertise in a series of talks, offering an insight into their materials, processes and creative journeys.

Find a Maker is organised by Craft Festival events. I had the pleasure in exhibiting with Craft Festival in Bovey Tracey last June. It was brilliant! I’m excited to be returning to Bovey at MAKE Southwest. It’s just another wonderful example of the brilliant ‘happenings’ that Craft Festival organise, celebrating people, skill and creativity”
